Digital Photography in Dental Practice

This course is degree quality learning aimed at the whole dental team.

Your first decision is whether you want to just take ‘snaps’ with this expensive bit of kit or consistent diagnostic quality images. Remember it’s a great investment which should last 5-10 years plus

Completing the course stage by stage will give you and your staff a head start in developing your image portfolio, for use in diagnosis, peer review, training, marketing etc.

From building your first camera kit to taking consistent high quality image, this course covers the main requirements.
The course is broken down into short videos with accompanying data sheets, so can be approached on an ‘ad hoc’ basis. Training in pairs or small groups is most effective.

Don’t worry if you haven’t a camera kit yet, sign up for the course and the best equipment is in part 2, any queries can be answered so that you can get your gear ready for part 5.

  1. Introduction – outlining the uses and benefits of being able to take clinical photographs
  2. Equipment – suggesting the best combination of camera lens and flash and the reasons for choice.
  3. Understanding photography – nothing about clinical photography, but just getting used to the settings on your camera in general photography on your compact camera or phone, FUN.
  4. Clinical views – a run through of the typical clinical images you will want to take in your surgery.
  5. Equipment settings – setting your cameras up to get consistent comparable results in the minimum amount of time.
  6. Extra oral views and Summary of course – you may not see the need for facial views, but it’s a good option to have available.
